NEW REGULATIONS FOR FOUR-YEAR BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY
(B.TECH.) DEGREE COURSE (SEMESTER SYSTEM) (With effect from the Batch admitted for the Academic
year 2001-2002)

Award of Rank A candidate seeking
into first year B.Tech.Degree course should have passed the intermediate
Examination of the board of Intermediate Education of Andhra Pradesh with
Mathematics, Physics and chemistry as Optional subjects or any equivalent
examination recognized by S.V.University. The course of study prescribed for B.Tech. Degrees are:
2.2 The first year of study is common to all branches. Second, third and fourth years of stud will be six semesters duration (i.e. two semesters in each academic year). 2.3 A student is required to chosen a branch of study at the time of admission. No change of branches shall be permitted after the closure of the instruction for I B.Tech Class. 3.
Minimum Instruction Days: Top First year of B Tech course consists of a minimum of 140 instruction days (based on five days of instruction for per week) excluding the days allotted for tests, examination and preparation holidays. Each semester shall consist of a minimum of 70 instruction days(based on five days of instructions per week) excluding the days allotted for tests, examinations and preparation holidays. 4.1 The performance of the students in First year/ each semester shall be evaluated subjects-wise. The distribution of marks between sessional works ( based on the internal assessment) and University examination will be as follows:
4.2 In first year/ in each semester there shall be two tests, of two hours duration in each theory/ design and / or drawing subjects one in the middle of the first year/semester and the others towards the end of the first year/semester. In the case of theory subjects the sessional marks will be awarded based on better of the two tests. In the case of Design and/or Drawing subjects, 25 marks will be awarded based on the day-to-day class work and the rest of 25 marks on the basis of the better of the two tests. In the case of practical subjects, the sessional marks shall be awarded based on the day-to-day class work and the test at the end of the semester. The department
concerned should constitute a three member committee consisting of the
concerned head of the department, One seminar faculty member and the concerned
guide to assess uniformly the performance of the students by way of semesters
on the project works turned out by the students. The sessional marks shall be
awarded by the concerned guide for 50% and the committee for 50% based on the
work turned out and submitted in the form a project report and his/her
performance in the seminar. NOTE: a student who is absent for any test shall be deemed to have scored zero in that test and no make up test shall be conducted. 5. University Examinations: Top 5.1 For each of theory design and/or drawing subjects there shall be a comprehensive university examination of three-hour duration at the end of the first year/ semester except where stated otherwise in the detailed schemes. External/internal examiners shall do question paper setting and valuation from the panels proved by the respective board of studies (pass). 5.2
For each practical subject one internal examiner and one
external examiner shall conduct the University Examination. 5.3
Project Viva-voce examination shall be conducted by two
internal examines and one external examiner, 5.4
The appointment of internal and external examiners for
the conduct of university Practical/ Viva-Voce and project Viva-voce
examinations for University Engg. College and other affiliated colleges
should be from the panel of examiners approved by the Chairman of the
concerned Board of Studies (pass). 6. Attendance Requirements: Top 6.1
Regular Course of
study means a minimum of average attendance of 75% in all the subjects
computed by totaling the number of hours of lecture design and/or drawing,
practical and al the case may be held in every subjects as the denominator
and the total number of hours attended by the student in all the subjects as
a numerator are evaluated based on his/her date of admission in the college. 6.2 However, a candidate has to put in a minimum of attendance of 50% in each subjects. In addition to the condition laid down in clause 6.1. 6.3 Condonation of shortage of attendance may be recommended provided a student puts in at least 62.5% attendance, in all the subjects 0put together al calculated in 6.1 above along with a minimum of 50% attendance in each subject as stated in 6.2 and provided the principal is satisfied with the progress and conduct of the student. 6.4 A student who could not satisfy these requirements of attendance as given in clauses above in first year on in any semester, shall have to repeat the first year or that semester. 6.5 A student shall not be permitted to study first year or any semester for more than three times during the course of His/ her study. Further, a student is required to complete the course of study satisfying the attendance requirements in all the four years of course within a period of eight academic years from the year of admission failing which he/she shall forfeit his/her seat. 6.6 A student who has satisfied the minimum attendance requirements, in first year or in any semester, may repeat the first year or that semester after obtained written permission from the principal and canceling the previous or that semester. However, this facilitate may be availed of by any student and entire course of study shall be within eight academic years, as stipulated in clauses 6.5. 7. Minimum Academic Requirements: Top 7.1
A candidate shall be
deemed to have satisfied the minimum academic requirements in each theory,
design and/or drawing and practical subject, project work if he/she secures
not less than 35% marks in University examination. Provided however, the
minimum aggregate of 45% marks in first year and in all the six semester put
together is required for the award of the Degree. Aggregate of this purpose
shall mean the aggregate marks secured in University examinations and
sessional marks put together at first year and at all the semesters form II
to IV years. 7.2
A candidate shall be
declared to have satisfied the minimum academic requirements of he/she
satisfied each of the following conditions i. Satisfies the minimum requirements of attendance as stipulated in clause 6; ii. Secures the minimum academic requirements as stated in clause 7.1 and iii. Satisfied all other regulations academic or otherwise as stipulated by the University, from time to time. 8.
Condition of Promotion:
Top 8.1
A student shall be
eligible for promotion to the I semester of II B.Tech. if he/she satisfies
the minimum attendance requirements for I B.Tech as stipulated in clause 6. 8.2 A student shall be eligible for promotion to next semester if he/she satisfies the minimum attendance requirements in the immediately preceding semester as given in clause 6. 9. Award of B.Tech degree: Top The Degree of
B.Tech shall be conferred on a candidate who has satisfied the following
conditions: 9.1
The candidate must
have after admission to the regular B.Tech program of the University, pursued
a course of study for not less than four academic years in the S.V.U College of
Engineering or in any affiliated Engineering College. 9.2
The candidate must
have satisfied the minimum academic requirements 9in appropriate branch of
Engineering in each of four years of the Course as prescribed in clause 7. 10.1
After candidate has
satisfied the minimum academic requirements prescribed for the completion of
course specified in clause 7 and be comes eligible for the award of the
Degree, he/she shall be placed in one of the following four classifications: First class with
Distinction : 70% aggregate or more First class : 60 % of
aggregate or more but less than 70% Second class :50 % of aggregate
or more but less than 60% Pass :All
other candidate eligible for the award of the Degree. For this purpose, “aggregate” shall mean aggregate of
the marks in university examinations and sessional. Marks put together at all
the years of II, III and IV B. Tech. (i.e. six semesters). NOTE: The sessional marks
and University examination marks shall be shown separately on the marks
sheet. A single marks sheet statement
shall be issued to the students only after passing the course. The name of
the institution shall also be shown the marks statement. 11.1
Rank shall be awarded
in each branch of specialization for the top ten percent of the students
appearing for the Regular IV B.Tech. Examinations or the top three students,
whichever is higher. 11.2
Only such candidates
who pass the final year examination at the end of the fourth academic year
after admission as regular final year students along with the other in their
batch and become eligible for the award of Degree are eligible for the award
of the rank. Candidate who lose, first year and one or more semesters for any
reason whatsoever are not eligible for the award of Rank. 11.3
For the purpose of
awarding of rank in each branch, aggregate of marks, University Examination
and sessional marks put together at all the semesters of II, III and IV
B.Tech., Secured at the first attempt only shall be taken into account. 11.4
Award of Prizes,
Scholarships and other Honors shall be according to the rank secured by
candidate as given above consistent with the desire of the Donor. 12. Transitory Regulations: Top 12.1
Candidate who studied
the four-year B.Tech. Degree course under the Old Regulations (yearly
Pattern) but who could not satisfy the minimum attendance requirements in any
year may join the first year/ appropriate semester in the revised regulations
applicable for the batch for the remaining part of the course and be governed
by the regulation of that batch from then on. The Revised Regulations from that year shall also govern any
candidate, admitting under Old Regulations under any other circumstances
onwards. How ever, the condition stipulated in 6.5. Shall not
apply to candidates admitted under Old Regulations who have subsequently
joined in first year/ semester under revised Regulations. 12.2
University
Examinations under Old regulations shall be conducted in subjects of each
year three times after the conduct of last regular examinations under those
regulations. 12.3
Candidates who
satisfies the attendance requirements in any year under old regulations but
who are yet to pass some subjects of that year even after three chances as
stated in 12.2 shall appear for the equivalent subjects specified by the
Board of Studies of the concerned branch. 12.4
The students admitted
during 2000-01 or earlier under old regulations (yearly pattern) can be promoted
to III and IV B.Tech classes of old regulations provided they have satisfied
the attendance requirements of II B.Tech. And III B.Tech respectively. |
