Prof. G. Ramachandra Reddy, Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, has attained superannuation on 30th April, 2010 after completing a fruitful service of 34 years in Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering, Tirupati. He was born on 1st May, 1950 in an agricultural family at madala, near Banaganpalli, Kurnool Dist., Andhra Pradesh. He received M.Sc. and M.Sc. (Tech.) degrees from the Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Pilani, India, in 1973 and 1975 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from IIT(Madras), at Chennai in 1987. Prof. Reddy joined as Lecturer in S.V. University on 5th July, 1976. He was promoted as Reader on 29th May, 1987, later he became Professor on 6th July, 1996. He led the department from 30th Jan. 2002 to 30th Jan,2003 and from 12th Feb,2007 to 26th Feb 2009. Prof. Reddy reoriented the department laboratories and department office to have better facilities to the students. Prof. Reddy is an able administrator and worked as founder Principal of Annamacharya Institute of Technology & Science, Rajampeta, Kadapa Dist. for a period of 18 months and Principal of Aditya Engineering College, Surampalem, East Godavari District for 3 years. He worked as Secretary, SVU Teachers Association (SVUTA), President for SVU Faculty Club for a period of one year. He also worked as NSS Program Officer for a tenure of seven years and made contributions for Tree plantation around Tirupati to make it as a green city, and worked as President, Pragna bharathi conducted many programs to enrich knowledge among the public in general and profesionals in particular. He worked as Chairman of IETE, Tirupati Centre. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Life Fellow of IETE and Life Member of ISTE. He worked as Visting Scientist at Concordia University. Montreal, Canada for a period of 2½ years. He also visited USA, Germany, Canada, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore on different assignments. Prof. Reddy is well known for his research contributions. He published a number of papers in International and National journals. His area of interest includes Radar Signal Processing, Statistical Signal Processing, Wavelets, Equalization algorithms, Multirate Filter Banks etc. He is a very popular and respected Professor in Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- · SVUCE Alumni day celebrations took place in Srinivasa Auditorium on 2nd May 2010. · About 500 alumni participated. · Hon’ VC Prof N Parabhakar Rao inaugurated the function. · Dr C R Prasad, former Chairman GAIL, our First batch student, and Sri P Gopal Reddy, CMD, Southern Power Distribution Corp.Ltd. AP, were guests of honour. · Prof M M Naidu, Principal, SVUCE presided over the function. · All the alumni along with their families had lunch in the messes of Visweswara and Viswakarma Hostel blocks. · In the after noon session new office bearers of the SVUCE Alumni Association were elected. The Elections went on smoothly. All the candidates were elected unanimously. · The function concluded with cultural programs performed by S V U C E Students, and a dance troupe from Proddutur, of Kadapa District. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reopening of SVUCE after Vacation SVUCE reopens on 16th June 2010, after summer vacation, for the new academic year 2010-11.
